DIY modern concrete bookends

This was the first time I worked with concrete. I always wanted to give a try but I was a little scared to use this material. So I’m glad I made those bookends for Bob Vila. It was fun to work with concrete and much easier than I thought! You can be sure I will make some other concrete stuff in the future!

If you want to make some modern diamond bookends, have a look at the full tutorial on Bob Vila.

PS: The bookshelf is also a DIY project, If you missed it you can have a look at the tutorial!

What kind of concrete did you use? I tried the sand kind thinking it’d be fine so my finished product would smooth out after sanding and unfortunately it had all kinds of rocks and didn’t know if sanding would smooth it out. Thinking I maybe should have used some other kind? Also, what grit of sandpaper did you use as well?

Hello Rebecca, I used "cemento gris - Mixsa" I found it at Home depot Mexico...I don't know if you can find it where you live. For the sandpaper, I used first 60 and I finished with a 120 grit. I hope this helps.
