When you think of Christmas ornaments, a toilet paper roll probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind.

However, it’s a fantastic material to recycle for creating festive decorations.

To whip up this lovely flower decoration, you only need two cardboard rolls and a sharpie.

It’s a clever way to transform something that would otherwise be thrown away into a stunning holiday piece!

Gather your Materials

I grabbed a paint marker to create the stripes on the cardboard since I like how vibrant the colors turn out. But you could use regular markers or even paint the rolls in any color that catches your eye.

Now that you’ve gathered all your supplies, it’s time to start crafting.

1.Start cutting the roll to open it and lay it flat.

2. Using a paint marker, create a line pattern on both sides of the roll to add some flair.

3. Next, take a ruler and draw lines to divide the roll into five equal strips, then carefully cut them out.

4. Take one of the strips and fold it to form a loop, gluing the ends together to create a tip.

5. Do the same with the remaining strips until you have five identical loops.

6. Once you have all your loops, arrange them in a flower shape and glue them together to secure the design.

7. Repeat the same process to make a second flower shape that matches the first.

8. After both flowers are complete, stack them on top of each other and add a few glue dots where they overlap to keep them in place.

9. Use a hole punch to create a hole next to one of the tips; if you don’t have a punch, a sharp object will work just fine.

10. Cut a piece of string about 30 cm (12 inches) long, thread it through the hole, and tie a knot to secure the ends.

11. For a polished look, you can slide a bead onto the string and hide the knot inside the bead’s hole for a neat finish.
