DIY fabric pumpkins without sewing

How to make Recycled Halloween Pumpkins with tights

I have very little time to craft at the moment, between my two oldest kids and the baby, my days are full and I barely have time to rest.

That’s why I wasn’t planning on making any Halloween or fall decorations this year. BUT I saw too many pretty pumpkins on Pinterest and Insta…and I wanted some too.

[ This post probably contains affiliates links, our full disclosure policy is really boring, but you can read it HERE ]

I came up with a very easy and quick idea: using tights to make cute mini fabric pumpkins. They are pretty, soft, and unbreakable…which is great when you have a baby girl who just starts walking and grab everything she can.

You can make one on this no-sew pumpkin in less than 5 minutes. It’s an easy craft to make and it’s doable with kids if you like to craft your fall decor in family.

Flip the tights to have the knot inside, and fill it with the cushion filler. The more filler you put in the bigger your pumpkin will be.

* * *

Mas relleno pones mas grande sera tu calabaza.

Once you are done filling, close the tights with a second knot.

Cut a piece of rope. Take the center of the rope and make a knot around the pumpkin stem.

Wrap the rope around your pumpkin as if it was a gift. You have to squeeze the rope a bit to create the pumpkin shape. Wrap it several times so your pumpkin looks pretty.

End up by making a knot with the two ends of the rope. Do it on top of your pumpkin, close to the stem.

You can add a bit of spray adhesive to fix the tights end and roll it on itself to make it look like the pumpkin stem. Tangle the strings a little (I don’t know how are called these spiral things that pumpkins have). And ready!

Y listo!

These pumpkins are super fast to do, once you catch the wave I think it takes like 5 minutes to make one. I made them using white and beige tights …. but you can make them in any color, it would also be fun to make them with tights that have an original design.

I think this craft may work with socks too…I didn’t have tried this option though. If you give a try making socks pumpkins let me know how it works.
