You know I have two passions: pillows and plants…So nothing better than merging both in a fun sewing project by making a Cactus shaped pillow.
This cactus pillow will look nice in any room. Put it on your couch, use it to give the nursery a fun twist, or to decorate a teen’s bedroom. It can also work great in a playroom mixed with some rounded floor pillows.
The best is that this cactus is super easy to take care of, even for those who have a black thumb 🙂
I love how this throw pillow turns out. I had to make several try to find out the right shape to create a cozy cactus pillow. The felt flower on top gives the pillow the perfect final touch.

What does the Cactus pillow pattern include?
The downloadable files include:
- The pillow pattern. It comes on 4 sheets and can be print on US letter-sized paper.
- A PDF tutorial that counts 10 pages. You can download it on your computer or print it. The tutorial detail every step with pictures and clear explanations. This fun pillow is doable by everyone, even sewing beginners.
- A video tutorial, which shows you in detail how to sew the cushion.
Materials you will need to make your DIY Cactus pillow:
- Green cotton fabric 1 yard (1m)
- Matching thread
- White embroidery floss
- Felt to make the flower (this set has beautiful colors)
- A sewing machine
- Cushion filling
- The cactus pillow pattern
I recommend you to use medium-weight fabric such as cotton. The cactus cushion will look better if you use fabric that can hold the shape.
The cushion is made of curves, and you will see that in some steps you will have to work with several thicknesses of fabrics. These are two reasons why it’s better to avoid thick fabrics for this project.
The cactus cushion and the succulent pillow next to each other on the couch. Aren’t they cute?
