Gather your Materials

To create your fabric wreath, you’ll just need a handful of basic materials.

To create your wreath, you’ll need a fabric piece measuring 8 meters in length and 70 centimeters in width. ( 8 yards by 28 inches )

This means you’ll likely want to purchase 4 meters of fabric (4 yards), then cut it down the length and sew the two ends together to form the long strip you need.

If you’re not into sewing, no problem at all! You can easily do a few hand stitches or even use fabric glue to hold everything in place.

Creating a DIY fabric wreath is fun and you can use just about any type of fabric you like.

However, for the best results, it’s ideal to go with something lightweight and fluffy, such as tulle or organza, as these materials will give your wreath a lovely, full appearance.

How to make a Fabric Wreath

To create a beautiful fabric wreath, start by gathering a piece of fabric that measures 8 meters in length and 70 centimeters in width, which is equivalent to about 8 yards by 28 inches.

You can buy 4 meters of organza / tulle fabric (4 yards), then cut it along the length and sew the ends together to form a long strip that you will use for the wreath.

1. Begin by tying a knot at one end of the fabric strip.

4. Again, pass your wrist through this new loop and pull the fabric through once more.

5. Continue this process, repeating the steps to knot the fabric until you have created the entire wreath.

6. Once you’ve finished knotting, fluff and arrange the fabric to give the wreath a nice look.

7. To close the wreath, tie a knot with both ends. Hide the fabric ends into the knots.

8. Secure the wreath’s circular shape, you will need to reinforce it with wire. Cut a piece of wire and twist one end to form a hoop. If you prefer to avoid using wire, an embroidery hoop or a floral hoop can be an alternative.

9. With a needle and thread that matches your fabric, sew a few hand stitches to attach the wreath to the structure securely.

add a wire to the wreath

10. Finally, feel free to personalize your wreath by adding decorative elements of your choice. I like to use hot glue to attach some pine branches and a lovely velvet bow for an extra touch of charm.
