Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prepare the Paper

Choose 20 sheets of paper in your preferred color. For a vibrant look, mix different shades or paint stripes and patterns on plain sheets before starting. Allow any paint to dry completely before folding.

2. Fold Each Sheet

Take one sheet and fold it in half lengthwise. Unfold it, then fold each side toward the center crease to create a narrow rectangle. Overlap the edges above the center and fix them together with a strip of glue.

3. Design the Paper star

Draw simple shapes on the top and the edges of one rectangle. Cut out the shapes following your design.

Experiment with different patterns to achieve a variety of looks. Triangles, curves, or wavy cuts will create unique star designs once assembled.

For inspiration, refer to examples of finished designs that showcase how different cuts can transform the final star.

4. Cut all the pieces

Use the first paper rectangle you cut as a template to reproduce the notches design on all the other pieces. Cut out all the pieces. You must end up with 20 identical rectangles.

5. Glue the Paper Star together

Take a first piece, apply glue in the center and along the bottom edge. Then glue a second piece on top of it, aligning the edges carefully.

Continue gluing 10 pieces together. Press firmly to ensure they stick well.

6. Add a Hanging Loop

Cut a piece of string or ribbon, join both ends, and glue them to the center of one of the folded paper pieces. This will serve as the hanging loop for the star.

Once secured, continue gluing the remaining 10 folded rectangles on top of each other as done previously, ensuring the loop stays firmly in place at the center.

7. Form the Star

Once all pieces are glued, connect the first and last piece to close the circle. The star will naturally expand into a three-dimensional shape. Adjust the folds if needed to make it symmetrical.

You can simply add glue to secure the ends together, but if you want to be able to store the paper star flat, use Velcro instead.

Cut a piece of Velcro the length of the folded rectangle and glue one side of the Velcro to the center of each end of the star. When you open the star, stick the Velcro sides together to hold the shape.

The best option is adhesive Velcro, but you can also glue regular Velcro if needed.

8. Display the Star

Hang the finished star using string or ribbon. It can be displayed on walls, windows, or above a party table. For a layered look, make several stars in different sizes and colors.
