This fall leaf craft is made with very simple material: crepe paper, rope, and the free easy leaf template you can find it in the resource library. Feel free to add a cord light into the garland to enjoy it at night too.
It took me about 1 hour and a half to make a 12ft (3.5m) garland. This artificial fall leaves garland is easy and quite quick to make, so it’s perfect for a fall window decor or a fall door garland, as long as your front porch is protected from the rain of course.

The crepe paper that I used came in flattened rolls, as you can see in the photo above.
If your paper doesn’t come the same way, just fold it in wide folds to have several layers of paper on top of each other.
Then place the leaves template above all the folds and with a pencil, transfer the leaves shapes on the paper.
Cut all the paper layers at once, following the leaves shapes. You can hold the layers together with binder clips while cutting.
The crepe paper in thin enough to cut several layers of paper together, so you can make your fall paper leaves for the garland very quickly.
Repeat the previous steps to cut more paper leaves in different colors.
Time to assemble the paper leaf garland. Take the twine and make a loop knot at the end.
I find that making a loop is the most practical way to then attaches your garland where ever you want: around the front door or to frame a window, on the chimney mat, or simply on the wall.
Take a leaf, add a little glue on the tip and attach it on the rope.
Try to wrap the leaf base around the twine a little…and watch your fingers with the hot glue. I should have used these, be smarter than me a get them if you don’t already own some 😉
Glue one leaf next to each other. The leaves need to overlap. You can glue 5-6 leaves of each color and create an “ombre” garland or mix all the leaves color, as you prefer.
Listen to your favorite podcast and keep gluing all the leaves until your garland is long enough.
